"Borders" is a dance-rock tune, professionally recorded and mixed, that will be released in Summer 2008 on an album of progressive rock/pop by artist Ben Seigel.
The artist is looking for a few good remixers to try their hand at making different versions of the song. The guidelines for your remix are simple:
- Keep it under 6 minutes.
- Keep it free of curse words, unless you have a good reason to include them.
- Don't use material (samples) that are subject to copyright claims from others.
- Create and maintain the remix in 44.1KHZ, 24bit format. (It will be mixed down to CD-standard and mp3 format if selected).
- Do something cool! Something other than four-on-the-floor pounding!

The best remix, as judged by the artist, will be eligible for inclusion on the upcoming album, and potentially available for download at various spots on the web. If your remix is include on the final album release, you'll be fully credited in the liner notes.
You'll also get two copies of the final album.
The rules here are also simple:
- Original tracks for "Borders" can be used to create any sort of remix you want.
- You may use your own remix, whether it wins or not, for any positive non-commercial purpose you like. You may not sell it.
- You may not use the original song mix for any purpose other than remixing.
- You may not use samples or recordings in your remix that are subject to copyright claims from others.
- The winning remix may, at the artist's discretion, be added to the upcoming album, and be made available for free download.
In short, you keep the rights to use your own remix for anything that is positive (i.e., no hateful language, Ann Coulter tributes, etc.) and non-commercial (tracks for a friend's skateboarding video, short film, etc).
Note: tracks may be released under a Creative Commons license (example).
